• Ask whether pension is on top of the salaryDanish offers often state a salary plus an employer pension contribution. Check whether the pension is paid on top or taken from the figure you were quoted.
• Check your notice termsSalaried employees are usually covered by the Salaried Employees Act, where the employer's notice period grows with length of service. Ask whether it applies to you.
• Decide on unemployment insuranceUnemployment insurance is voluntary membership of an A-kasse, and you must have been a member for a period before you can claim. Join early if you want the cover.
• Get a CPR number and a tax cardRegister with the municipality to get a CPR number, then set up your preliminary income assessment with SKAT. Until your employer has a tax card, a high rate is withheld.
• Check church membershipMembers of the Danish National Church pay church tax on top of municipal tax. If you do not want to be a member, check your registration.
• Ask about the collective agreementMany workplaces are covered by a collective agreement that sets pay, pension and working hours. Ask whether one covers the role.
