Confirm the RALItalian offers quote the retribuzione annua lorda. Ask how many monthly payments it is split into and whether any variable part is included.
Ask which CCNL appliesThe national collective agreement for the sector sets minimum pay, the number of monthly payments, working hours and notice. Ask which one covers the role and at what level.
Ask about TFR and a pension fundYour employer sets aside TFR each year and pays it when the job ends, or pays it into a supplementary pension fund if you choose. Ask whether the employer adds a contribution to the fund.
Raise the impatriate regime earlyIf you are moving to Italy, the regime has to be requested from your employer. Ask whether they will apply it through payroll from the first month.
Confirm where you will liveThe regional and municipal surcharges follow your tax residence, not the office address.
Get a codice fiscaleYou need it for the contract, payroll and almost everything else. Italian consulates and the Agenzia delle Entrate issue it.

Questions before you sign

What is the quattordicesima?

A fourteenth monthly payment, usually in summer, that some collective agreements provide. It is part of the RAL, not paid on top of it.

Is TFR part of my salary?

It is deferred pay. It accumulates each year and is paid when the employment ends, unless you direct it into a pension fund. The calculator does not include it.
